The 30 word review:

Beautiful photos, the food is a move in the right direction.
Many ingredients listed would have to come from a specialty food store or co-op, plan on shopping before cooking.

Maybe it's because I live in a cold weather climate where if I wasn't allowed cooked food for three quarters of the year I'd just weep from the chilliness of my life, but I didn't get how heat is our enemy from this book. Or maybe the fact that I'm not big on sushi sabotaged me from the opening cover. Regardless I don't think this book is for me. It had so few pictures that I have no idea how many of the recipes end results are supposed to look like. And when making something called "chocolate cheese" that in fact contains no dairy and is made in a dehydrator- well, I think that would be important. After the lovely cover art I expected the same inside, to my disappointment.

Sure I think I'll give the salad recipes a try come this summer when it's too hot to cook. I may even make one or two of the desserts. But I don't think this realistically has a chance of replacing my usual eating habits, especially considering many of the ingredients are not readily available in my part of the world where the most exotic grocery emporium is Giant Eagle's ethnic aisle. I also found it horribly irresponsible that they tell you to collect wild edibles and list the 23 most toxic plants to be wary of...but they don't tell you what they look like or where they can be found. Go ahead and pick the magic mushrooms while you're at it if your going to take that stand! Meanwhile I'll be enjoying my actual cheese in moderation.

This book claims to be a cookbook however the book actually contains over fifty pages of why you should eat raw food and how amazing it will make your life. Even with the verbose and lengthy introduction, which should have been deleted the "recipes" basically consists of a list of ingredients and fails to provide adequate instructions aside from chop and mix. The few pictures in the book including that shown on the cover do not have detailed enough instructions to make the recipe look anything like the picture. Lastly some of the ingredients like dulse flakes and nutritional yeast which are in numerous recipes in this book are not described anywhere in the book nor can I find these ingredients anywhere, including the health food store. Rather than discuss all about blenders and food processors which, most people already have both try describing the recipes and ingredients in a little more detail. My recommendation is don't but this book if you want a cookbook, but only if you a few decent salad and dressing recipes and one man's account of the benefits of a raw diet. Wish I would have returned it.

Srgie comes from a great famiy. It is interesting and inspiring to hear his message as a young person. His peers do not sound too different than those we hear each day. It is very good!

I want to eat healthier so I thought I would try this book but nothing in flipping through the pages appealed to me and most of the recipes required a food dryer or ingredients a meat and potatoes person wouldn't have but it looks like a great book for the right person.
